Game Day

When signaling a corner kick should the referee always signal towards his closest corner? i.e. Never across the goal.

There is only one signal for a corner kick.  The Assistant Referee follows the ball down to the goal line.  The referee stops close to the goal area line but never past the corner flag.  The AR shows the flag at a 45 degree down angle.  The flag is never shown past the corner flag.  The AR does not indicate with the corner signal which side the Corner Kick should be taken as this is the referee's responsibility.

If you're asking about the Center referee's signal, or the signal of the Lead referee in a 2-man system:

I am fully aware that referees may not wear any type of jewelry, but the other day another referee asked my to remove my wedding ring. What is the ruling on wedding rings.

Interesting Question

Nowhere in the 2010-2011 NFHS Soccer Rules Book is Official jewelry addresses; only in Rule 4 - Player Equipment and the two exceptions are Religious and Medical  (Rule 4, Section 2; ART 4.)

Can Referees be more specific as to Game Day Availability?

Thank you for the suggestion.

The GDA (Game Day Availability) system currently exists as it has been requested by the Assignor. It has become a very useful and popular feature. It is possible we will continue to expand it's functionality by adding features such as what you have mentioned, and/or what others have mentioned. Keep the suggestions coming...

Injured Player Reports - now only by Center or Ref 1 as appropriate?

It is required by REF 1 (or the CENTER), however, more is better. So, it would be helpful if all officials submit an injury report (especially for serious injuries). This is also helpful if the REF 1 (or the CENTER) forgets to submit the report.

How many "availability" dates can we create at any one time? How far in advance? * Can we see all the dates we've entered?

You can only create up to one date at a time, and you may advertise your availability the next day.

This feature is not intended to be a set-it and forget-it type of availability system. That's why it's not convenient to enter multiple dates at once, nor is it possible to set future dates. It's merely meant to advertise that you are available to fill-in for a game today or tomorrow.

Is it 2-40 mins. period for all games or depends on Varsity, JV, Fresh/Soph and tornaments?

Frosh/Soph and JV are 35 minute halves. Varsity is 40 minute halves. Tournaments will specify their own time limits for the games.

How to make a report after each game

Reports do not need to be submitted after every game. The only report that must be completed is a misconduct report, if a player or team personnel was ejected from the game, or an injury report if a player was injured and left the game due to the injury and did not return, or a ball-violation report if an improper ball is used in the play-offs.

Each of these reports is available under the Game-Day menu of the web site.
