High School Rivalries (Past and Present)

Hello fellow members. At the training class for returning referees, our presenter reminded us that it's useful to prepare for a game by considering the opponents and their past history. That caused me to think that perhaps a it would be useful for us to discuss known rivalries between schools that exist year-to-year, and even rivalries that only exist for the current season (because of a tough match during Summer League or at a tournament, etc).

I've been an official with high school for three years, so I'm just starting to known the rivalries. I was able to be an AR for the Servite vs Esperanza games last year, so I got to experience the excitement and energy of that match first-hand. But there are many that I and other officials without a lot of high-school experience don't know about. So, I am inviting those of you who do know to help me and others benefit from your experience by listing and discussing those rivalries in this topic.

Thanks in advance...

San Clemente Vs Dana Hills

There is a long standing, sometimes bitter, sometimes mellow, rivalry between San Clemente High School and Dana Hills.

A dead dolphin was washed ashore on the San Clemente beach many years ago.   The following morning, some people had dragged/carried it and placed it under the flag pole at Dana Hills HS, near to their slogan "Home of the Dolphins".

To make it clear who the culprits were, for about three years afterwards, at every San Clemente/Dana Hills  sporting contest, the San Clemente supporters would have model dolphins, speared with pencils, to wave up and down during the contest.
